Beach Weddings




Many choose to get married on St. Croix because it is the most beautiful and unforgettable experience two could ever share together. The beautiful beach and views at Cottages by the Sea has been a backdrop to scores of weddings and honeymoons.

Since the U.S. Virgin Islands is an American Territory it operates under the laws of the United States Government, making your wedding seamless. Here are the steps that you need to follow to plan a wedding at Cottages by the Sea.

  • First you need to request an application for a marriage license from the Territorial Court of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Write to the Territorial Court of the Virgin Islands, Family Division, P.O. Box 929, Christainsted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I., 00821 or call (340) 778-9750 and request a marriage license application.
  • After the completed and notarized application is received in the islands, there is a required eight-day waiting period. Applications will not be returned, but must be picked up in person at the Courthouse upon arrival to the island. The eight day waiting period can be waived if you let them know ahead of time the dates that you will be on the island.
  • Review our wedding packages below, and choose which package best suits your needs and your budget.
  • Contact Cottages by the Sea at (800) 323-7252 and let us know how many people will be attending your wedding.
  • Please visit our online reservation system to book your accommodations.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept wedding parties larger than 4 people during the high season months of December through April. Simple two to four person weddings are possible on a space availability basis during those months. The best months for larger wedding parties are August through the first half of November.

Choose to have your Wedding in Paradise….

Small “Do-It-Yourself” Wedding Package (2-15 guests)
 

This wedding package is perfect for guests who just want to have a simple destination wedding with their closest friends and family. We simply provide our preferred list of officiators, photographers, florists, cake decorators and dining establishments in Frederiksted for you to arrange your own ceremony and reception.  You can choose to get married on our beach or research another location on the island.  Your reception, if desired, can be held off the property or on one of our patios (if you wish to cater your own reception – remember, all of our cottages have kitchens!) There is an additional fee of $100.00 for use of the patios.

We will be happy to answer any questions you may have and give ideas, but will leave all arrangements and decisions to the bride and groom.  The bride and groom handle the payment of all parties involved and are responsible for their own attire and the attire of their wedding party. A la carte items such as archways, decorations and conch or floral aisles can be added for a small fee. Cottage employees can also serve as witnesses for those who may decide to Elope.  Beach weddings on Sundays are not recommended.  This package does not include accommodations.

The cost of this wedding package is $100.00,
which does not include the cost of lodging. 

   

 

Traditional Wedding Package (2 to 50 guests)
 

Let us handle all the details for you!  This wedding package is for the bride and groom who just want to show up and get married.  The only thing they have to do is apply for their own wedding license and bring their own attire.  This package includes the following:              

   
 
  • In House Wedding consultant
  • Non-denominational or religious sunset ceremony
  • Beach Ceremony site with up to 25 chairs
  • Offiiciant
  • Aisle of flowers or conch shells
  • Decorative arch or foliage
  • Live or recorded music for ceremony
  • Bride's bouquet and groom's boutonniere
  • Two bridesmaid's bouquets and two groomsmen's boutonnieres
  • Professional photographer and 72 digital photographs on disc
  • Wedding Cake for up to 50 guests
  • Wedding reception at the Beachside Café adjacent to our property.
  • Beach weddings are not recommended on Sundays.

The cost of this wedding package is $1500.00, which does not include the cost of lodging or the reception.  Reception price to be determined by the Beachside Café based on the number of guests attending. 

 

Large wedding parties can be considered group stays and can be considered for a group discount of 15%.  We have accommodated dozens of large groups here at Cottages by the Sea over the years.   Examples of groups that have stayed with us in the past five years include college courses, youth groups, divers, family reunions, wedding parties, wildlife volunteer groups, construction workers, Danish school abroad, sports teams, groups of friends and organized elderly groups.

Groups find our prices reasonable and appreciate the more quaint and private setting we have to offer.  In particular, certain groups really appreciate having kitchens in each cottage as well our large patios where meeting are held or meals are enjoyed. 

Typically, our largest groups average 25 people, but our Cottages can accommodate groups up to 45 people alone and up to 90 people if you include the hotel adjacent to our property, Sandcastle on the Beach.  The Frederiksted Hotel is located just 3 minutes down the street and they can accommodate up to 50 people or more .

The easiest way to book a group wedding is for each individual, couple or family to book their own online reservation and then to notate that they are with the “Smith” wedding party and we can apply any discounts worked out with the bride and groom at that time and then send a confirmation for each reservation with the discounts reflected on that confirmation.
