Facts
- St. Croix is one of the three main U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI). Since
it is a U.S. territory, the US dollar is used for currency and you have
access to the US Postal System, US Court System and protection from
US laws and agencies. A passport is not needed to enter the island from
the United States.
- St. Croix is the largest of the USVI at 87 sq. miles. The island is
28 miles long and 7 miles wide.
- St. Croix has a population of over 50,000 residents
- St. Croix is in the passageways of the easterly, cooling Trade Winds.
The Trade Winds averages temperatures between 75 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit,
seldom above 90 and never under 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The Trade Winds
are the most reliable winds in the world, and in the days of sailing
ships, could be guaranteed to carry ships on their routes carrying goods
between countries, hence the name trade winds.

Historic
- St. Croix boasts the most and best historic sites of the three major
USVI.
- St. Croix is the only place in the present day United States that
was named by Christopher Columbus.
- St. Croix is the only territory in the New World to have been under
seven flags -- Spanish, Dutch, English, French, Knights of Malta, Danish,
and since 1917 the USA.
- St. Croix , in its early days, was known as the Garden of the West
Indies and attracted many government officials from surrounding islands
to learn from the exceptional layout of its 300 acre estates, towns
and roads.
